It’s funny how as life whizzes by you can often overlook something that is right in front of you or someone that you know that you need to thank or recognize but for whatever reason your mind neglects to do so at the appropriate time. This morning as I was looking at the handmade shell sconces in my kitchen, I realized that I need to shout out to the world again about how awesome my sister (Heather Kendalls) creations are!

Heather is a shell artist and owns a business aptly named “Elegant Shells” (her website is www.elegantshells.com) and she makes seashell decor. Items like seashell mirrors, seashell lamps, seashell chandeliers, shell fireplaces and the like.  Her work has been featured in Southern Living, DuPont Registry, Florida Travel and Life, Garden Design, Ocean Home, and Tampa Magazine just to name a few. Most of her work is custom done for individual customers or under contract from a design firm, and every piece is hand made. If you would like to purchase something check out her SHOP. I love you and appreciate your talents.

Downtown Chic: Designing Your Dream Home: From Wreck to Ravishing

61aydazgbll_ss500_I want this book so badly….

New York City–based couple Robert and Cortney Novogratz have been renovating and designing unique and hip homes for families for over ten years. Describing their signature style as a sophisticated but bohemian mix of high and low, new and old, they offer their realistic advice on how to create original, warm interiors with ease. One part practical guide, one part inspirational volume on creating a look for the home, the book pairs humorous anecdotes about the pitfalls and pleasures of renovation with a treasure trove of decorating tips: how to use both boutique and flea-market finds; how to inject lots of personality into a room affordably; how to decorate kids’ rooms so they appeal to children and adults; how to easily rehabilitate outdated furnishings; and many more. In each of the ten projects featured—which include a townhouse in New York City, a country house in Massachusetts, and a beach house in Brazil—before and after shots document the agony and ecstasy of any renovation project, as well as revealing the design duo’s vision and remarkable ability to see through the most awful of spaces to the amazing home that lies within.

I am feeling kind of emotional lately, I think it’s just the weight of the world, and the fact that my son is growing up so fast. He makes me perfectly happy, I can’t imagine having another one right now, I love giving him the spotlight! I may be spoiling him a bit, just a little. He asks for jelly beans a hundred times a day and laughs out loud when he sees my face. He has started to play little games, and his plastic animals walk now with large up and down movements from his tiny hands. He surfs in the bath tub on a boogie board, and he drives his animals to the airport in his cozy coupe…

We have been really busy latley, but thinking about all of the people we love and sending good positive vibes to those who are going through a hard time right now! Take a deep breath and let it all go. Let God carry your weight.

Design on a dime…

I was checking out Wal-Marts new line of baby stuff baby mod and I found these for only $39 on clearance. They have great modern furniture that looks similar to the Ouef crib that Van has.

  • Set includes comforter, bumper, fitted sheet, and bed skirt.
  • Fabric: 100% cotton, 180 thread count

I have to say I am loving simple modern design in interiors lately. I found this great article about interior design on a budget and thought I would share it with you! I love what they have done with each room and I am stealing some ideas for my house.
These are too cute and they play chimes when you rock em . $7.50
Check out their website where you can purchase them.

Dwell for target

I know I already wrote about this one, but I am so excited for Dwell to launch their new line at target. I am so impressed with Target’s choice of companies to co-brand with.
Target is Wonderful! They are starting to carry many great baby products too. Babylegs, Skip*Hop, Boon, Peanut Shell, Hotslings and now Dwell. I am sitting here drinking red wine, eating cheese and oranges, so I thought I would post some of the pics I got a peek at.

The Baby Collection launches this month. The Home Collection comes out in February!

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

Happy day today! I took a photo of my little fishy.

I think he likes the way his teeth feel on his lips now!
4 teeth, 10 months, crawling, favorite place to be in the water, favorite toy – mom’s celly or the dogs.
Hobbies: giggling, and walking (holding onto mom or dads hands of course), patting people I love and hugging and kissing.
Things I dislike – getting my diaper changed, being strapped into anything.
I am in love with these little pieces of Art from modern dose,

So today didn’t really seem like a normal day in a week, I guess since it was a holiday. Rainy, and I felt ill all weekend I took today to gather my thoughts off of the floor and organize them somewhere around eye level where I could make sense of them.
